映画「選挙」を見てみる

ある選挙の候補者に密着した映画が、今話題になっています。
海外で上映したところ、あまりに奇異な光景に「コメディー」として話題になったそうです。

先日、この話題の映画「選挙」を見に行ってきました。

◆あらすじ◆
川崎市議会議員（宮前区）補欠選挙に立候補した候補者に密着したドキュメンタリー。
街頭での氏名連呼、握手廻りなど「どぶ板選挙」の特徴を余すことなく捉えている。

◆私が感じた特徴◆
・監督が候補者の友人であることから、候補者夫婦の会話など、裏側をしっかりと捉えています。
・補欠選挙ということで、自民党が一体となった完全な組織選挙を実践しています。
・候補者は当時の「小泉人気」にあやかるため、具体的政策は抜きに、ひたすら「小泉改革の一員」をアピールしています。

◆感想◆
いい意味でも、悪い意味でも、「どぶ板選挙」をしっかりと捉えており、選挙の現状を知って頂くという意味で「無党派層」の方々に非常にお勧めしたい映画です。
反面、観終わった後に大いに違和感を感じました。
それは、「組織選挙」「政策不在」という点です。自民党の小泉総理、国会議員、県議会議員、市議会議員が一体となって行われる組織型選挙、そしてひたすら「小泉改革の一員」「改革の続行」だけを叫ぶスタイルを見ると、「それなら候補者が彼じゃなくても誰でもいいのでは？」と感じさせられます。

ちなみに監督はこの作品について、「あくまで事実を捉えただけのもの。注釈等は何も入れない」という旨発言していますが、結果として「組織型選挙」へのアンチテーゼになっているのでは？と感じました。そこまで意図してこの被写体を選んだとすると、非常に凄いなと思います。

なお、「監督が候補者の友人である」ということはこの映画を語る上で外せない特徴でしょう。
友人だからこそ、候補者夫婦が選挙事務所の外でする正直な会話が収められていますし、それがドキュメンタリーの臨場感を上げています。贅沢を言うとすると、友人という特長を生かしてもっとプライベート、候補者の正直な声を拾って欲しかったな、と思います。


何だかんだで史上類を見ない映画なので、皆さんもぜひご覧ください！
※残念ながら、この映画は鹿児島での上映はない模様です。九州では福岡で7/7～上映されるそうなので、福岡にお出かけの際はぜひ。
